Given Saint Joseph's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while Artesia is ranked 547th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Saint Joseph found their leader in underclassman Olivia Martinez, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 10 rebounds. The match was Martinez's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Olivia Coates, who scored 9 points.
The win makes it two in a row for Saint Joseph and bumps their season record up to 5-0-1. As for Artesia, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Saint Joseph's road trip will continue as they head out to face Orange at 6:00 p.m. on December 1st. Both teams have allowed few points on average, (Orange: 23.5, Saint Joseph: 26.2) so any points scored will be well earned. As for Artesia, they will take on El Segundo at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
