Basketball Recap: Conemaugh Valley Drops Season-High Score on Ferndale

Conemaugh Valley is still winless after their game against Ferndale on Monday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 52-49 heartbreaker at the hands of the Ferndale Yellow Jackets. One positive for the Blue Jays, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Several Blue Jays players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gwen Masser, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Penelope Reininger, who posted 17 points.

Even though they lost, Conemaugh Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Deajah Chatman continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Ferndale, going 9 of 16 on her way to 24 points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Lindsey Leverknight, who had five points in addition to nine rebounds and three steals.

Conemaugh Valley's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Ferndale, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

Conemaugh Valley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 76-38 defeat against Blacklick Valley on the 17th. As for Ferndale, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 57-30 victory against Shade on the 18th.
