Basketball Game Preview: Mallard Creek Mavericks vs. Hough Huskies

Mallard Creek has gone 9-1 against Hough recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Mallard Creek Mavericks will head out to take on the Hough Huskies at 6:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Mallard Creek will head into Tuesday's matchup hoping to keep the good times rolling: they had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 47-point drubbing they dealt Harding University on Tuesday. Mallard Creek really took it to Harding University for the full four quarters, racking up a 71-24 victory. The Mavericks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 23 points or more this season.

Mallard Creek got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kiara Anderson out in front who went 5 for 12 on her way to 10 points in addition to eight assists and five steals. Anderson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of My?Asia Young, who went 7 for 10 on her way to 17 points in addition to six boards and four steals.

Meanwhile, Hough had just enough and edged West Charlotte out 66-64 on Tuesday.

Mallard Creek pushed their record up to 12-2 with the victory, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 49.7 points. As for Hough, their win bumped their record up to 10-3.
