Basketball Game Preview: Modoc Braves vs. Fall River Bulldogs

The Modoc Braves will face off against the Fall River Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Modoc is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51 points per game this season.

On Tuesday, everything came up roses for Modoc against Mt. Shasta as the team secured a 68-22 victory. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-11.

Jordyn Sandage was her usual excellent self, going 9 of 17 en route to 20 points along with five rebounds and four steals. That's the most points she has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ashlynn Albright, who had six points and nine assists.

Modoc smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 22 consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, in Tuesday's Canine Competition, Fall River had to take the L. They came up short against Trinity on Tuesday, falling 57-31. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 467th, while the Wolves are ranked 228th).

Modoc has been performing well recently as they've won 15 of their last 18 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points over those games. As for Fall River, their loss dropped their record down to 11-11.

Modoc was able to grind out a solid win over Fall River in their previous meeting back in January, winning 39-31. Does Modoc have another victory up their sleeve, or will Fall River turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
