The Adelanto Saints posted their biggest win yet this season on Thursday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 73-31 victory over Barstow. Given Adelanto's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 461st, while Barstow is ranked 993rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Adelanto had a senior duo take command as Nina Lacy dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds and Heavenly Alexander scored 19 points along with six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Alexander has scored all season. Jamiya Cantrell was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Barstow's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Makena Hassell, who scored six points along with seven steals and seven blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Jade Chavez, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Adelanto has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for Barstow, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-15.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Adelanto will face off against Granite Hills at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Granite Hills has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Barstow, they will head out on the road to face off against Victor Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Victor Valley is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
