After a string of four wins, the Jordan Panthers's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 49-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of West. Jordan lost against West in their previous head to head back in February of 2016, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 49-37 score last time.
Jordan's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Asia Edwards, who scored 15 points along with three steals. Edwards hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Janiah Lorn, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Jordan's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-3. As for West, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jordan will be home for the holidays to greet Compton at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Compton comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last 11 games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. West and Lawndale will face off at 5:30 p.m. on December 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Lawndale is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
