The Venture Academy Mustangs can finally bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. Couldn't have asked for a better start to 2024 than the 57-26 blowout they got on the road against Stockton Christian. The result was nothing new for Venture Academy, who have now won four contests by 31 points or more so far this season.
Venture Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kelyiana Neal out in front who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 12 rebounds. Neal continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kimora Crawford, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds.
Venture Academy's win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Stockton Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Venture Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Linden at 2:30 p.m. on January 6th. Linden is hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses. Stockton Christian and Lodi Academy will face off at 5:00 p.m. on January 11th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Lodi Academy's defense has only allowed 23.2 points per game this season, so Stockton Christian's offense will have their work cut out for Stockton Christian.
