Riverview has been on the road for three straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on The Strawberry Crest Chargers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
After soaring to 41 points the game before, Riverview were a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They were beaten by Sumner 40-7. Riverview was already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.
Meanwhile, Strawberry Crest was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 34-30 to Alonso.
Despite the loss, Strawberry Crest got a solid performance out of Devin Blunt, who rushed for 154 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.6 yards per carry. Abe Craig got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Even if they lost, Strawberry Crest's defensive line still kept up the pressure with four sacks. Leading the way was Zayveon Springfield and his two sacks.
Having lost for the first time this season, Riverview fell to 6-1. As for Strawberry Crest, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's match: Riverview has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 149 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Strawberry Crest struggles in that department as they've been even better at 184.1 per game. It's looking like Friday's game might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Riverview took their win against Strawberry Crest in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 by a conclusive 40-14. Does Riverview have another victory up their sleeve, or will Strawberry Crest turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
