Top honors in the league this week go to
California, which finished with three wins overall, good for best in the league. The Condors beat
Whittier 6-0,
El Rancho 1-0 and
Pioneer 2-1.
California made the biggest jump in the standings this week, moving from third to first place in Del Rio thanks to a 3-0 record over the past seven days. Meanwhile, the Cardinals fell hardest in the standings, dropping from second all the way to fifth place after going 0-3 in the past week.
California still lead the league with just 67 base hits given up over the entire season, but Whittier gave up the fewest hits in the league over the past week (nine).
Although the 34 runs scored by California topped the league, the Cardinals maintained their lead in the league with 41 runs this season.
There were four hitters that batted over .400 in the league this week. The group was paced by Nick Sosa, who collected three hits in six at bats for a .500 average.
The week's strikeout crown belonged to
Cody Carmona, who turned in four Ks for Whittier. With 11 strikeouts this year so far, he ranks fifth in the league.
The Dons'
Julian Vizcarra threw seven shutout innings in a 2-0 win over the Cardinals on Wednesday. He pitched seven scoreless innings and struck out two, while giving up seven hits.
