Basketball Game Preview: Mitchell Mustangs vs. Cypress Creek Coyotes

The Mitchell Mustangs will venture away from home to challenge the Cypress Creek Coyotes at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mitchell will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Mitchell is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Hudson: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Mitchell blew Hudson out of the water with a 67-20 final score. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 20 points or more this season.

Sydney Reinhart was a one-woman wrecking crew for Mitchell as she went 7 for 14 en route to 20 points along with five boards and four steals. That's the most steals Reinhart has posted since back in December of 2024. Haley Malik was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds.

Mitchell smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 29 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in nine consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Cypress Creek hadn't done well against Land O' Lakes recently (they were 0-8 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Cypress Creek secured a 57-51 W over Land O' Lakes. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Coyotes.

Mitchell is also on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.7 points per game. As for Cypress Creek, their record is now 10-11.

Mitchell and Cypress Creek were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in January of 2024, but Mitchell came up empty-handed after a 65-64 loss. Can Mitchell avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
