Pacific Collegiate is 0-4 against St. Francis since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Pacific Collegiate Pumas will head out on the road to square off against the St. Francis Sharks at 6:00 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Pacific Collegiate has struggled recently with five losses in a row, while St. Francis will arrive with 15 straight wins.
While Pacific Collegiate couldn't quite beat King City back in January, the two-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 23-point defeat they were dealt back in January. Pacific Collegiate fell just short of King City by a score of 27-25.
Meanwhile, St. Francis stacked an eighth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Monday. They really took it to Marina for the full four quarters, racking up a 57-26 victory at home. Given St. Francis' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 406th, while Marina is ranked 1098th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
St. Francis' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emily Raich, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Maya Calfee, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Pacific Collegiate's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-6. As for St. Francis, their victory bumped their record up to 20-2.
Pacific Collegiate came up short against St. Francis in their previous meeting back in January, falling 50-39. Can Pacific Collegiate avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
