The Augusta E Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Augusta Christian Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Augusta Christian will be up against a hot Augusta E team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. The Eagles put the hurt on Savannah Athletic Association with a sharp 12-1 win on Saturday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by ten runs or more this season.
Luke Reese was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Tucker Thomas, who went 2-for-3 with three runs.
Augusta Christian never got on the board in their matchup on Monday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Horse Creek Academy on Wednesday. They blew past the Stallions 13-3. While the Lions didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Luke Spivey made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Spivey was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. That double was his first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mark Hamlin, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Mason Fernandes was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Augusta Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Horse Creek Academy only posted a batting average of .190.
Augusta E's record now sits at 4-1. As for Augusta Christian, their record is now 6-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Augusta E has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Augusta Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Augusta E suffered a grim 8-2 defeat to Augusta Christian in their previous matchup back in February. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
