Basketball Recap: Haley Smith Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Woodland Christian

Liberty Ranch's tournament run continued when they took on Woodland Christian on Tuesday. Everything went the Liberty Ranch Hawks' way against the Woodland Christian Cardinals as the Liberty Ranch Hawks made off with a 51-31 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hawks.

Liberty Ranch's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Haley Smith led the charge by putting up 15 points in addition to eight boards and five steals. Smith's afternoon made it nine games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Madisyn Robbins, who went 7 of 10 on her way to 14 points and five rebounds.

Despite the loss, Woodland Christian had strong showings from Elena Ganyo, who posted seven points and three steals, and Bailee Broward, who put up eight points and ten rebounds. Broward has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Teagan Hayes, who had eight points in addition to six steals and five boards.

Liberty Ranch's record now sits at 2-0. As for Woodland Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Liberty Ranch wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 66-63 loss against Sheldon on the 27th. As for Woodland Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 38-33 defeat against Sacramento Adventist on the 27th.
