The Portage Mustangs put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 56-37 win over Central Cambria. Given Portage's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while Central Cambria is ranked 170th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Alex Chobany continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 14 points along with five rebounds and four steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Brooke Bednarksi, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Portage's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-0. As for Central Cambria, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.
Portage will be playing in front of their home fans against Northern Cambria at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Northern Cambria comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Central Cambria, they will head out on the road to face off against Bishop McCort at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Bishop McCort's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests.
