Wheeling is 2-8 against Hoffman Estates since May of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Wheeling is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 28-16 margin over Streamwood on Monday. Winning may never get old, but the Wildcats sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Olivia Aquino made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That stolen base was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Wheeling got a massive performance out of Jessica Niznik, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two RBI, and one double. Those four runs gave Niznik a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alaina Costello, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Wheeling kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Hoffman Estates fell victim to Conant and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 13-0 to the Cougars.
Wheeling's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Hoffman Estates, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.
Hoffman Estates' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Wheeling hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .395. It's a different story for Hoffman Estates, though, as they've only averaged .204. Will they be able to contain Wheeling's hitters?
Wheeling was able to grind out a solid win over Hoffman Estates in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, winning 11-8. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
