The Tattnall Square Academy Trojans will head out to face off against the Gatewood Gators at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Tattnall Square Academy is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
Last Thursday, Tattnall Square Academy earned a 6-2 victory over Strong Rock Christian.
Tucker Brown and Wyatt Still made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Brown struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Still tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in February of 2024. At the plate, Brown went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI, while Still went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one double. Those two hits gave Brown a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tristan Turner, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Braxton Collins, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.
Tattnall Square Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gatewood). They blew past Central Fellowship Christian Academy 17-5 on Tuesday. With that win, the Gators brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Hunter Johnson was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Brady Haley was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Gatewood has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing nine hits in those games compared to only 4.67 in the others. Tattnall Square Academy picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 10-2.
Tattnall Square Academy couldn't quite finish off Gatewood in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 3-1. Can Tattnall Square Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
