The Roosevelt Rough Riders will face off against the Chavez Titans at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Roosevelt will bounce into Saturday's contest after beating McLane, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Rough Riders narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Highlanders 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Rough Riders have posted since May 2, 2025.
Meanwhile, Chavez came tearing into Thursday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 11-1 win. Considering the Titans have won four matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Jacob Sixtos and Benji Perez made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Sixtos struck out nine batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Perez pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Chavez is undefeated when he allows at most two walks, but 3-6-1 otherwise. At the plate, Sixtos went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Perez got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Perez has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
In other batting news, Emmanuel Segura was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Chavez: the team is 2-0-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 4-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Villareal, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Roosevelt's record is now 7-4-2. As for Chavez, the victory got them back to even at 6-6-1.
