It was a good run, but the La Jolla Vikings unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 41-40 to Hoover. The result was an unpleasant reminder to La Jolla of the 57-45 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January.
Despite the loss, La Jolla still got an impressive performance from Elena Farrar, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds. It was the first time this season that Farrar scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Snider, who scored two points along with eight steals.
It was another big night for Myesha Frank, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and three steals for Hoover. Frank has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jewel Parker, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
La Jolla's loss dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Hoover, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. La Jolla will take on the Colts at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Crawford is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Hoover, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Sundevils at 6:00 p.m. on January 27th. Hopefully Mt. Carmel focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 39 on Friday.
