San Lorenzo hasn't had much luck against Arroyo recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Grizzlies will head out on the road to take on the Dons at 4:00 p.m. San Lorenzo is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.6 runs per game this season.
San Lorenzo's last matchup with Hayward could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Thursday. The Grizzlies came up short against the Farmers, falling 13-3. The Grizzlies' loss continues a trend for the team, making it six in a row.
San Lorenzo saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kane Lawless, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and one run.
Meanwhile, Arroyo entered their tilt with American on Monday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 10-9 W against the Eagles. Ten seems to be a good number for the Dons as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Jacob Soares tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Justin Nelson and Marco Carbajal did most of the damage at the plate: Nelson went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple, while Carbajal went 3-for-4 with two triples, two RBI, and one run. Those three runs gave Nelson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jered Montenegro, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Arroyo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .353 or higher in four consecutive games.
Arroyo's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-9. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for San Lorenzo, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-7.
San Lorenzo suffered a grim 17-2 defeat to Arroyo in their previous meeting back in March of 2019. Can the Grizzlies avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
