The Holtville Vikings can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They came out on top against Santana by a score of 30-22. The win was just what Holtville needed coming off of a 43-18 defeat in their prior match.
Leading Holtville to victory were Vanessa Gonzalez and Jasmine Garewal. Gonzalez scored eight points along with eight rebounds and five assists, while Garewal dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds. Garewal hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for 12 straight games.
Several Sultans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jayden Fields, who scored ten points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Fields has scored all season.
Holtville pushed their record up to 6-11 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Santana, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Holtville will take on Palo Verde Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Santana, they will head out on the road to take on Valhalla at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Valhalla presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Santana in California (Valhalla is ranked 503rd, while Santana is ranked 1237th).
