After flying high against the Meyersdale Red Raiders on Thursday, the Northern Huskies came back down to earth. Northern received a tough blow on Friday as they fell 49-34 to Mountain Ridge. Northern has struggled against Mountain Ridge recently, as their contest on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Mountain Ridge was led to victory by Ian Duncan and Cameron Breighner. Duncan scored 12 points along with seven rebounds, while Breighner scored 16 points along with two steals and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Cobe Penick, who scored four points along with three steals.
Northern has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. As for Mountain Ridge, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-6.
Northern will head out on the road to face off against Rockwood at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mountain Ridge, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Allegany at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Allegany's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
