The victory was all the more spectacular given St. Joseph Academy's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 959th, while Veterans Memorial is ranked 424th).
St. Joseph Academy can attribute much of their success to Lucas Cristiano, who scored 28 points. Mikey Rivera was another key contributor, scoring 10 points.
St. Joseph Academy's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Veterans Memorial, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-3 record this season.
St. Joseph Academy will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against St. Joseph at 6:45 p.m. on December 5th. Veterans Memorial will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lopez at 6:00 p.m. on December 12th.
