The Juniata Valley Hornets lost against the Williamsburg Blue Pirates back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Juniata Valley was outmatched by Williamsburg on the road and fell 63-26. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Juniata Valley has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Juniata Valley had strong showings from Maddie Hopsicker, who scored 11 points along with two steals, and Kassidy Watson, who scored nine points. Hopsicker is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played.
Juniata Valley struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Williamsburg was led to victory by Levada Gorsuch and Leeanna Royer. Gorsuch almost dropped a double-double on 17 rebounds and nine blocks, while Royer scored 16 points along with seven assists and three steals. Royer hasn't dropped below three steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayla Hileman, who scored 14 points along with six assists and two steals.
Juniata Valley has not been sharp recently as the team has lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. As for Williamsburg, the win was the 16th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-1.
Juniata Valley will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Northern Bedford County at 6:00 p.m. As for Williamsburg, they will head out on the road to take on Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
