The Live Oak Acorns will head out on the road to square off against the Pioneer Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Live Oak is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
South San Francisco hit Live Oak with a four-run seventh inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Acorns fell 7-4 to the Warriors.
Noah Baquiran made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run and two runs. Nathan Lozano also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Pioneer, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They skirted past Los Altos 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mustangs have posted since May 16, 2025.
Preston Bright made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other pitching news, Connor Mahan looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.
Bright wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Griffin Bacon, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
Pioneer hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Los Altos struck out 11 times.
Live Oak now has a losing record of 3-4-1. As for Pioneer, their record is now 5-3.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Live Oak has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Pioneer struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Live Oak came out on top in a nail-biter against Pioneer in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Do the Acorns have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
