Even though California and Santa Fe only combined for only zero shots on goal on Thursday, they still managed to score six goals in total. California walked away with a 4-2 victory over Santa Fe. It was an even better day for Karen Contreras as she scored an excellent three goals for her team.
California was led to victory by the tag-team duo of Contreras and
Diana Perez, who scored all four of California's goals. The pair have combined for a total of four so far this season.
California's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-9-1. As for Santa Fe, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-6-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. California will take on Whittier at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Whittier is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Santa Fe, they will look to defend their home pitch on Saturday against La Serna at 11:00 a.m. La Serna is coming into the game hot, having won their last seven games.
