Baseball Recap: Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Nuview Bridge, Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Hamilton Bobcats. This was a revenge game for the Mustangs: when they faced off against the Bobcats back in March, they had to take a 5-1 loss.

Brandon Morinaga made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 15 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Those 15 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 3-5 otherwise.

Morinaga wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Bodhi Duenas, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Brandon Vera was another, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Hamilton, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.

Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 6-3 victory against San Jacinto Leadership Academy on the 14th. As for Hamilton, they have also already played their next game, an 11-0 defeat against California Lutheran on the 14th.
