The Rocklin Thunder will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against the Lincoln Fighting Zebras at 7:30 p.m. on December 20th. Hopefully Rocklin focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Saturday.
Rocklin scored the most points they've had all season to find success. They breezed by Laguna Creek on the road to the tune of 68-28. The win was just what Rocklin needed coming off of a 54-34 defeat in their prior match.
Rocklin's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bianca Slone led the charge by scoring ten points along with six rebounds and five assists. Slone hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. Gisele Negueloua was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six steals.
Meanwhile, Lincoln didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Pleasant Grove on Saturday, but they still walked away with a 48-43 victory. Given Lincoln's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 153rd, while Pleasant Grove is ranked 389th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rocklin has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Lincoln, their victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-2.
Rocklin opened the new year with a less-than-successful 55-44 defeat to Lincoln. Thankfully for Rocklin, Katie Leeth (who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and five steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
