The Cosumnes Oaks Wolfpack had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They snuck past Davis Sr. with a 57-51 win. That's another feather in the cap for Cosumnes Oaks, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Isabel Tan was her usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with five steals. Another player making a difference was Caitlin Subejano, who scored 16 points along with five steals.
When it comes to explaining why Davis Sr. lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tessa Schouten. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Schouten has scored all season. Jiana Trotman was another key contributor, scoring six points along with 13 rebounds and two steals.
Even though they lost, Davis Sr. smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cosumnes Oaks only pulled down an offensive rebound.
Cosumnes Oaks' victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-7. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for Davis Sr., this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cosumnes Oaks will face off against St. Francis at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Francis is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 54.8 points per game. As for Davis Sr., they will head out on the road to face off against Elk Grove at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Elk Grove comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 19 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
