Basketball Recap: Cottondale Extends Winning Streak to Five

Cottondale extended their winning streak to five games thanks to a huge performance from Cameron Odom. The Cottondale Hornets came out on top in a nail-biter against the Franklin County Seahawks on Friday, sneaking past 65-62 thanks in part to Odom, who went 6 for 10 on his way to 21 points in addition to six assists and six boards. Those 21 points gave him a new career-high.

Despite the loss, Franklin County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Sadiq Jones dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Those 11 boards set a new season-high mark for Jones. The team also got some help courtesy of Dre North, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 12 points.

Cottondale is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for Franklin County, they moved to 9-2 with that defeat, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

Cottondale didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 59-55 loss against Port St. Joe on the 28th. As for Franklin County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 57-53 victory against Graceville on the 28th.
