The Flintridge Prep Wolves are taking a road trip to face off against the Montebello Oilers at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Flintridge Prep is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Flintridge Prep and Rio Hondo Prep meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. The Wolves blew past the Kares 11-2. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Wolves considering their two-run performance the game before.
Will Grable made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in 12 consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, earning one RBI, two runs, and two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Flintridge Prep let Gavin Fong and Nathan Sanok run wild. Fong got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Sanok went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. What's more, Fong posted three hits, the most he's had since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Nicholas Aparicio, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Montebello came out on top against La Serna on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Oilers' pitchers stepped up to hand the Lancers a 5-0 shutout.
The team relied heavily on Fernando Cruz, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Flintridge Prep has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Montebello, their record is now 18-8.
