The Homer-Center Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the River Valley Panthers at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Homer-Center is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
Homer-Center suffered their biggest loss since December 1, 2023 on Wednesday. Their rough 54-29 defeat to United might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Homer-Center can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 294th, while United is ranked 137th).
Meanwhile, River Valley waltzed into their match on Wednesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They came out on top against Cambria Heights by a score of 52-42.
It was another big night for Ava Persichetti, who scored 24 points along with five rebounds and four steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of River Valley's points. Another player making a difference was Alessia LaMantia, who scored eight points along with four steals.
Homer-Center now has a losing record at 5-6. As for River Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 12-4.
Homer-Center was taken down by River Valley 59-31 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Homer-Center was down 38-15.
