Basketball Recap: Topanga Tusantoso's Big Game Can't Quite Lead University City over Vincent Memorial

University City was the 60-42 winner over Vincent Memorial when they last played one another back in November of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The University City Centurions received a blow on Wednesday as they fell 54-37 to the Vincent Memorial Scots.

University City lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Topanga Tusantoso, who posted ten points. Tusantoso is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Chloe King also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steal of the season.

Vincent Memorial got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Paola Longoria out in front who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 boards. Dafne Borunda was another key player, putting up 14 points and three steals.

University City has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-12 record this season. As for Vincent Memorial, they pushed their record up to 15-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.

University City has already played their next contest, a 64-42 loss against Cathedral Catholic on the 31st. As for Vincent Memorial, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 52-50 win against Calexico on the 30th.
