The Therrell Panthers will square off against the McDonough Warhawks at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Therrell's favor as the team sits on eight straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while McDonough has been banged up by eight consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.
While Therrell's win against Salem wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Panthers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over the Seminoles on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Panthers have posted since March 21, 2025.
Raysean Eberhart made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Eberhart was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Camryn Corbin was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Janai Smith, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, McDonough lost 18-3 to Jonesboro on Monday.
McDonough saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Javen Lee, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
McDonough now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Therrell, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Therrell hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .318. However, it's not like McDonough struggles in that department as they've averaged .400. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
