The Wildwood Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 56-55 to Halifax Academy. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the loss, Wildwood saw an underclassman step up: Zayden Garcia scored 21 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Garcia has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Louis Brown, who scored 19 points.
Wildwood has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season. As for Halifax Academy, their victory was their tenth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-3.
Wildwood will be playing at home against Leesburg at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Leesburg's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five games. Halifax Academy on the road again on Friday and play against Legacy Charter at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th. Hopefully Legacy Charter focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Thursday.
