Baseball Recap: M.L. King Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but M.L. King ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top against the Forest Park Panthers by a score of 8-4. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Lions as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.

Kaleb Scott made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Jaharre Leach and Donovyn Pinn did most of the damage at the plate: Leach scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Pinn scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave Leach a new career-high. Evan Fulks was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-5.

M.L. King's win bumped their record up to 12-10. As for Forest Park, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season.

M.L. King does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Forest Park, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Salem at 5:55 p.m. on the 14th.
