Holy Trinity is 0-6 against Von Steuben since March of 2016 but things could change on Wednesday. The Tigers will challenge the Panthers at 4:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Holy Trinity came out on top against Farragut on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run sixth inning. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Admirals. The victory was some much needed relief for the Tigers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Matt Diaz was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Elijah Mota was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Jarcary Payton, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Von Steuben, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They put the hurt on Westmont with a sharp 10-1 win on Tuesday.
Like Holy Trinity, Von Steuben also got a great game from a two-way player: Wade Miley. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). Miley was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other pitching news, Christian Welk looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
Back at the plate, Von Steuben got a massive performance out of Matteo Banuelos, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Luis Sequera was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Holy Trinity's record now sits at 2-4. As for Von Steuben, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Holy Trinity might still be hurting after the 14-2 defeat they got from Von Steuben in their previous matchup back in March of 2025. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
