Basketball Game Preview: Pine-Richland Rams vs. Plum Mustangs

The Pine-Richland Rams and the Plum Mustangs will round out the year against one another at at 11:30 a.m. on Friday. Pine-Richland will be strutting in after a victory while Plum will be coming in after a defeat.

Having struggled with seven losses in a row dating back to last season, Pine-Richland turned things around against Woodland Hills on Thursday. They breezed by the Wolverines to the tune of 46-16. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Rams have posted since January 3rd.

It was another big night for Catherine Gentile, who posted 22 points. She has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Madison Meabon, who put up nine points and five steals.

Pine-Richland smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January.

Meanwhile, Plum might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Shaler Area an easy 61-40 victory. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 296th, while the Titans are ranked 60th).

Pine-Richland's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-6. As for Plum, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.

Everything went Pine-Richland's way against Plum in their previous meeting back in January of 2015, as Pine-Richland made off with a 52-31 victory. Will Pine-Richland repeat their success, or does Plum have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
