El Dorado is 7-1 against Argonaut since February of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The El Dorado Cougars will look to defend their home field against the Argonaut Mustangs at 3:30 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Tuesday.
El Dorado will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Monday, then bounced right back against Antelope on Wednesday. El Dorado blew past Antelope 18-5. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by ten runs or more this season.

JJ Allen was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of El Dorado's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is undefeated (and 1-4 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jackson Miller, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for El Dorado: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Ozenne, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
El Dorado always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Argonaut, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They put the hurt on Calaveras with a sharp 10-2 victory on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Mustangs considering their two-run performance the game before.
Marcus Scaife made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). That's the first time he hasn't allowed a single hit since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was his first of the season.
Scaife wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Sam Jones, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
The win got El Dorado back to even at 4-4. As for Argonaut, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. El Dorado has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Argonaut struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
El Dorado skirted past Argonaut 4-3 in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Does El Dorado have another victory up their sleeve, or will Argonaut turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
