Meanwhile, Cambridge-Isanti came up short against Sauk Rapids-Rice on Friday and fell 24-12. Cambridge-Isanti has struggled against Sauk Rapids-Rice recently, as Friday's match was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Elk River's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 1-5. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Rogers, Andover, and Brainerd. As for Cambridge-Isanti, their defeat on Friday dropped their record down to 3-3.
