The Upper Perkiomen Indians's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Upper Merion Area an easy 47-24 win. Upper Perkiomen has not had much luck with Upper Merion Area recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Upper Perkiomen lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Erin States, who scored six points.
Upper Merion Area's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Devon Maiden, who scored 21 points along with three steals. That's the first time this season that Maiden scored 15 or more points. Kennedy Coles was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with nine rebounds and five assists.
Upper Perkiomen has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. As for Upper Merion Area, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.
Upper Perkiomen will head out on the road to face off against Perkiomen Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Perkiomen Valley's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Upper Perkiomen has been banged up by 13 consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season. Upper Merion Area will be home for the holidays to greet Boyertown at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Boyertown focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday.
