Basketball Recap: Marysville Piles Up the Points Against River Valley

Marysville won the last time they faced River Valley and things went their way on Saturday too. The Marysville Indians blew past the River Valley Falcons 69-25. The Indians have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 32 points or more this season.

Leading Marysville to victory were Demi Boykin and Abigail Pietz. Boykin went 14 of 27 on her way to 31 points along with seven steals and six boards, while Pietz dropped a triple-double on 17 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 steals. Pietz is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last 32 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Collins, who posted four points in addition to eight boards and four steals.

Despite the defeat, River Valley had strong showings from Micaila Ross-Morales, who had nine points, and Gurleen Nijjar, who put up no points and five boards.

Marysville's victory was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.3 points per game. As for River Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Marysville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 63-52 loss against Ponderosa on the 9th. As for River Valley, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 35-33 win against Las Plumas on the 10th.
