After a string of three wins, the Willits Wolverines's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They suffered a rough 43-22 loss at the hands of Kelseyville. Willits lost against Kelseyville in their previous head to head back in February, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 47-43 score last time.
Willits' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hazel Cooke, who scored nine points. Cecily Potter was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Willits' loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 8-5. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 23.8 points per game. As for Kelseyville, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
Willits won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Clear Lake at 11:00 a.m. on December 15th. As for Kelseyville, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Upper Lake at 5:00 p.m. on December 15th. Upper Lake is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
