The Mercer Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Farrell Steelers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Mercer had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.8 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They breezed by Reynolds at home to the tune of 46-16. Given Mercer's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 251st, while Reynolds is ranked 613th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Farrell posted their biggest victory yet this season on Thursday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 51-15 win over Jamestown. That's two games straight that Farrell has won by exactly 36 points.
Mercer's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1. As for Farrell, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
Mercer didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Farrell in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 48-43 win. Does Mercer have another victory up their sleeve, or will Farrell turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
