Football Recap: Camelback Piles Up the Points Against Browne

Camelback won the last time they faced Browne and things went their way on Friday too. The Spartans simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Bruins 49-14. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Spartans had established a 28-point advantage.

Camelback's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Angel Neria led the charge by throwing for 230 yards and five touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes, and also rushing for 34 yards. That's the most passing touchdowns Neria has posted since back in October of 2024. Another back making a difference was Anthony Scott Jr., who gained 152 total yards and two touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Camelback was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 240 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in three consecutive matchups.

Camelback's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. Browne's QB won't forget Mannix Butler anytime soon given he sacked him twice. Butler has been hot, having also posted six or more total tackles the last six times he's played. Another thorn in Browne's side was Javelle Abdul-Kabir, who picked up a sack and made 12 total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Browne lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Frankie Hernandez, who rushed for 115 yards and one TD. He was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 65 yards. Sameer Sabur also helped out with an impressive 85 receiving yards.

Camelback's win bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Browne, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Camelback wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 60-19 victory against Fairfax on the 17th. As for Browne, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 14-8 win against Central on the 17th.
