Softball Recap: Northside Wins Going Away Against Rutland

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Houston County, Northside was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They blew past the Rutland Hurricanes 10-1. Considering the Eagles have won 11 contests by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Kadence Cooley made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Ayanna Washington was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in August. E'Vejia Burgman was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Northside now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Rutland, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-16.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northside will venture away from home to square off against Coffee at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trojans' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Rutland, they will head out on the road to face off against Callaway at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
