The King Wolves are taking a road trip to take on the Rancho Verde Mustangs at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
King took a loss when they played away from home last Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Jurupa Hills 7-6. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Wolves as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Isaac Sanchez made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because King is 5-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-6 otherwise. Sanchez was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, King let Carlos Moreno and Janson Moreno run wild. Carlos scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Janson went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits Janson has posted since back in February. Ryker Galvan also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Rancho Verde got themselves on the board against Rancho Christian on Thursday, but Rancho Christian never followed suit. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 win over the Eagles.
Not much got past Julian Dominguez, who gave up just four hits and racked up six Ks to keep Rancho Christian off the board. Dominguez has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Sebas Cazares was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Jacob Cabral, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.
Rancho Verde is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for King, the win got them back to even at 7-7.
King took their victory against Rancho Verde in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 18-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolves since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
