International Academy is 8-2 against Genesee since December of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The International Academy Phoenix will head out on the road to face off against the Genesee Wolves at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
International Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They breezed by Atherton on the road to the tune of 80-33. The win was some much needed relief for International Academy as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Genesee was handed a 43-point loss in their previous outing, but they didn't let that bad energy affect their game against Atherton on Tuesday. Genesee narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Atherton 52-50. The win was just what Genesee needed coming off of a 69-26 defeat in their prior matchup.
Genesee's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Connor Rouse, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Aiden Croak, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 16 rebounds.
International Academy's record is now 8-6. Genesee's record now sits at 3-11.
International Academy was taken down by Genesee 84-55 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can International Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
