Basketball Recap: Argonaut Piles Up the Points Against Galt

Argonaut won the last time they faced Galt and things went their way on Friday too. The Argonaut Mustangs really took it to the Galt Warriors for the full four quarters, racking up a 59-22 win. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 22 points or more this season.

Argonaut got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Brynn Begovich out in front who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc on her way to 20 points in addition to five assists and five boards. The dominant performance gave Begovich a new career-high in points. Alayna Critchfield was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds.

Galt lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Antanella Feilbach, who posted seven points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexandra Gonzalez Landa, who earned four points and four steals.

Argonaut's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-9. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.7 points per game. As for Galt, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season.

Argonaut will face off against Rosemont at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rosemont has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Galt, they will take on Union Mine at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Union Mine has four straight victories, Galt has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
