The Oakwood Owls have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They had to suffer through a rough 59-24 loss at the hands of La Salle. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Oakwood has scored all season.
Audrey Chen was her usual excellent self, scoring 16 points along with eight rebounds for La Salle. Another player making a difference was Kaden Cortes, who scored ten points.
Oakwood's loss dropped their record down to 12-5. As for La Salle, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-1.
Oakwood will head out on the road to face off against Pacifica Christian/Santa Monica at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pacifica Christian/Santa Monica will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 683rd, while Oakwood is ranked 201st). As for La Salle, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bishop Montgomery at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bishop Montgomery knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully La Salle likes a good challenge.
