Basketball Game Preview: Colfax Falcons vs. Lincoln Fighting Zebras

Colfax is 10-0 against Lincoln since February of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Colfax Falcons will face off against the Lincoln Fighting Zebras at 7:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Friday, Colfax blew past Wheatland, posting a 69-14 win. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 110th, while the Pirates are ranked 1220th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Colfax's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Madalyn Sigrist, who went 7 of 13 on her way to 16 points in addition to five assists and five steals, and Kaia Diederichs, who went 7 for 8 on her way to 17 points. That's the most assists Sigrist has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Belle Chu, who posted nine points and four steals.

Colfax smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lincoln). They took their contest on Friday with ease, bagging a 64-13 victory over Mira Loma. The win was familiar territory for the Fighting Zebras who have now won three games in a row.

Colfax's victory was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-6. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.9 points per game. As for Lincoln, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.

Colfax beat Lincoln 61-54 when the teams last played back in November of 2023. Will Colfax repeat their success, or does Lincoln have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
